There appears to be a “slight film” or “snail like tracks” on the surface of my freshly poured project, what caused this?

High humidity (over 50%) can cause an “amine blush” resulting in an “oily” film on the surface. Amine blushing will generally occur within the first 10 minutes after the coating has been applied and is due to moisture absorption as the coating begins to cure. To avoid an amine blush, work in an area under 50% humidity. Avoid coating in a damp area such as a basement, close to a shower or laundry room. Use an inexpensive weather set with humidity gage to monitor temperature and humidity in your coating area. For more in-depth information, view our online “Amine-Blush Bulletin.”
