DIY Resin Gift Tags

Print Pin

Materials

  • Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast
  • Mixing cups and stirring sticks
  • Disposable Gloves
  • Resin Spray and Sealer
  • 2" Round Keychain Mold
  • Glitter or PolyColor Resin Powder
  • Adhesive Vinyl
  • Transfer Tape

Instructions

Resin Gift Tag

  • Prepare the Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast according to package directions. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area, wear disposable gloves, and protect your workspace.
  • Add equal parts resin and hardener to the mixing cup. Each mold will need about 15 ml of resin.
  • If you are making multiple gift tags at once, split the resin into separate mixing cups. Add a generous amount of your favorite glitter or resin colorant into the resin cup(s) and mix together well until completely combined.
  • Slowly pour the resin into the mold until it reaches the top. Be careful not to overfill. Wait a few minutes for the bubbles to rise to the top, and then blow through a straw or spritz the resin with alcohol to remove surface bubbles.
  • Leave the resin to cure in an undisturbed area for 24 hours. You will know that the resin is cured and ready to be removed from the mold when the surface is no longer tacky and pulls away from the mold edges.
  • Next, carefully remove the gift tags from the molds. Cut away any over-poured resin using scissors, and sand any rough edges if necessary.

Personalization

  • Cut initials, a monogram or full name out of adhesive vinyl using a cutting machine, or cut by hand using scissors or a craft knife. Weed away the excess vinyl by removing any parts of the design that don't belong. Another alternative is using alphabet stickers.
  • Center the vinyl or sticker to front of the gift tag. When it came to using an initial, I found it easiest to apply the vinyl on the front of the gift tags like a sticker. It's just one piece and very simple to apply. Once it is in place, rub the vinyl down well to remove any air bubbles. Peel the transfer tape away to reveal the gift tag!
