Instructions

  • Safety first! Before you start working with epoxy resin, make sure that you’re wearing protective eyewear and gloves, cover your workspace or use a silicone mat in case of spills, and be sure to work in a well-ventilated area.
  • Prepare 1oz (per page holder) of Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast Epoxy according to package directions, and follow all safety guidelines. Pour in 1:1 (1 part A to 1 part B) into a mixing cup. Stir the resin mixture together SLOWLY with a stir stick for about 3 minutes, and then pour the resin into a clean mixing cup. Stir the resin again for another minute or two with a clean stir stick. If the resin still has streaks running through it, keep mixing until it becomes clear.
  • I mixed up a larger batch of resin and split it into multiple mixing cups. Add a generous amount of powder or glitter into each resin mixture and stir well until evenly combined.

  • Next, pour the colored resin(s) into the molds. I filled some of the molds with a solid color or glitter, and filled others with half color and glitter. If you are filling the molds half/half, I would recommend starting by pouring a little of each resin mixture into one side of the mold. Then, alternate pouring the resins on each side until the mold is full. This will help to keep each half fairly even with the different resin mixtures.

  • Finally, let the resin rest for about 10 minutes to give the air bubbles time to come to the surface. Then use a heat gun, blow through a straw, or lightly spritz the molds with 91% alcohol to remove surface bubbles. Leave the resin to cure in an undisturbed, well ventilated area for 24 - 36 hours (temperature and climate dependent).
  • Remove the page holders from the molds and admire your work! If the resin still feels a little flexible out of the mold, it may just need more time to cure. This is totally normal, and you will just need to let the project sit in a warm, flat area to cure for a few hours (or days, depending on the climate of the room where it’s curing).
  • Use scissors or a craft knife to carefully remove any over-poured epoxy, and sand down the edges if necessary. If you do sand the resin, you can re-seal the areas with Resin Spray.
