You can actually make a vintage-look Halloween spider necklace in minutes with just a few supplies. You are going to love this technique as well as the cute addition to your spooky fall wardrobe. In fact, you can make a few in the same amount of time as you can make one. So, be sure to make a few to give to family and friends as well!
Supplies to make this spider necklace:
- Antique looking bezels
- EnviroTex Jewelry Resin
- Universal Transparent Dyes in Amber
- Ultra Seal Multi-Purpose Sealer / Glue
- Images of spiders and spiderwebs printed on regular copy paper
- Mixing cups
- Measuring cups
- Mixing sticks
- Protective gloves
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
How to Make a Halloween Spider Necklace:
First, cut the images with scissors to fit inside your bezels.
Use the Ultra Seal Multi-Purpose Sealer / Glue inside the bezel. Spread a thin coat with a paintbrush.
Add the image and brush another light coat over the top. Allow this to dry. Normally you would add a few coats and make sure this is cured before continuing. We are NOT going to do that. In order to get a more antique look, we are going to just do one light coat and allow to dry.
Repeat for as many of the necklaces as you are going to make.
Then measure and mix your EnviroTex Jewelry Resin according to the package directions. Add one small drop of Universal Transparent Dyes in Amber and mix well. This will tint your resin and give it more of an antique look. Remember to follow all package instructions when measuring and mixing. You will also want to wear protective gloves when working with resin.
Then drip small amounts of resin onto your pieces. Repeat until they are completely full. Be sure to pop any bubbles that rise to the surface. NOTE: I am using the stir stick in the image below to keep the one bezel level. You will want all of your pieces to be level when curing.
Now, why didn’t I make sure my paper was completely sealed before beginning? I wanted a really old and vintage look. Some of the resin will discolor the paper giving you that effect in minutes!
Allow your necklaces to cure and you have a Halloween spider necklace that is perfect for any Halloween party!
These necklaces have a gorgeous vintage look all within a few minutes and the techniques we mentioned above.
If you love all things spooky, you will want to make a spider necklace or two for yourself this fall!
