Create colorful resin book page holders to help hold your favorite books open with style!
Hello, Resin Crafters! Lindsay from Artsy-Fartsy Mama here with a new resin project to share with you! Made with Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast Epoxy and vibrant mica powders and glitters from the Color Creator Chameleon Gift Pack, these book page holders are such a helpful (and beautiful!) accessory for book lovers! Not only do they help you keep your book open, but you can customize them to fit your personal style and would also make a great gift. These page holders are a lot of fun to make, and I hope you feel inspired to try making some for yourself.
SUPPLIES TO MAKE RESIN BOOK PAGE HOLDERS:

The Color Creator Chameleon Gift Pack comes with a set of vibrant powders and glitters that color-shift like magic depending on the angle you view them from. Safety first! Before you start working with epoxy resin, make sure that you’re wearing protective eyewear and gloves, cover your workspace or use a silicone mat in case of spills, and be sure to work in a well-ventilated area.
STEP 1: PREPARE THE DEEP POUR EPOXY
Prepare 1oz (per page holder) of Amazing Clear Cast according to package directions, and follow all safety guidelines. Pour in 1:1 (1 part A to 1 part B) into a mixing cup. Stir the resin mixture together SLOWLY with a stir stick for about 3 minutes, and then pour the resin into a clean mixing cup. Stir again for another minute or two with a clean stir stick. If the resin still has streaks running through it, keep mixing until it becomes clear.
STEP 2: COLOR EPOXY WITH COLOR CREATOR
I wanted to try making multiple page holders using the different Color Creator Chameleon mica powders and glitters, so I mixed up a larger batch of resin and split it into multiple mixing cups. Add a generous amount of powder or glitter into each resin mixture and stir well until evenly combined. To show you how the “color-shift” works, take a look at the tilted resin stir stick (using the green powder) in the light! The color is vibrant, shimmery, and seems to change colors at different angles. One great thing about using a Color Creator set is that you don’t have to stress about choosing colors because they all coordinate and look gorgeous together.
STEP 3:
Next, pour the colored resin(s) into the molds. I filled some of the molds with a solid color or glitter, and filled others with half color and glitter. If you are filling the molds half/half, I would recommend starting by pouring a little of each resin mixture into one side of the mold. Then, alternate pouring the resins on each side until the mold is full. This will help to keep each half fairly even with the different resin mixtures.
STEP 4:
Finally, let the resin rest for about 10 minutes to give the air bubbles time to come to the surface. Then use a heat gun, blow through a straw, or lightly spritz the molds with 91% alcohol to remove surface bubbles. Leave the resin to cure in an undisturbed, well ventilated area for 24 – 36 hours (temperature and climate dependent).
STEP 5:
Now for my favorite part – demolding! Remove the page holders from the molds and admire your work! If the resin still feels a little flexible out of the mold, it may just need more time to cure. This is totally normal, and you will just need to let the project sit in a warm, flat area to cure for a few hours (or days, depending on the climate of the room where it’s curing).
Use scissors or a craft knife to carefully remove any over-poured epoxy, and sand down the edges if necessary. If you do sand the resin, you can re-seal the areas with Resin Spray.
To use the Book Page Holder, simply open a book, and hold the cover in your hand. Place the page holder in the book, with the pointed center in the crease. Pop a thumb through the hole, and now you can hold the book open easily! This is such a fantastic tool for book lovers, teachers, librarians, and would make a great gift!
I love how these Resin Book Page Holders turned out; they are such a great reading accessory. As always, I would love to hear what you think about this project!
