Make a clay pot cupcake stand in minutes! This project is perfect for parties and can be customized to match any decor. The marbled resin effect on the top looks similar to granite when complete and will really wow your guests!
Supplies needed to make a clay pot cupcake stand:
- EnviroTex Lite Pour-On High Gloss Finish
- Castin’Craft Opaque Pigments (in the colors of your choice)
- Clay pot and saucer
- Outdoor paint (I used a metallic)
- Mixing cup
- Measuring cups
- Stir sticks
- Toothpicks
- Paint brush
- Gloves
- Adhesive
Start by painting both the pot and saucer with a few coats of outdoor paint. Allow to dry in between coats as well before continuing with this project. Once dry, measure and mix some EnviroTex Lite Pour-On High Gloss Finish. Be sure to use the two cup method for mixing as indicated in the instructions and wear gloves when working with resin. Divide this mixture up into some small measuring cups.
Add your colors to the mixture and stir well. I am using white and black then leaving one of the cups clear. I started by pouring my clear into the clay saucer. If you don’t leave one clear, start with the color that you have the most of.
Then just randomly add your colors to the clay saucer.
Use toothpicks and additional stir sticks to marble the resin and get the look desired. Just drag through to mix and mingle the colors until you are happy with the results. Allow the bubbles to rise to the top and pop according to the package directions.
You can see the detail in my final pour below! I love all of the marbling and details that you get with this resin pouring method.
Allow to cure completely then use some adhesive to put the clay pot on the bottom of the saucer.
Add your cupcakes to the top and you are ready for any party!
I love the granite like look of the colors that I used but you can literally use any colors that you desire. Mix and match to create a clay pot cupcake stand for every party and event that you are hosting.
There are so many possibilities and with a project this easy it is simple to add a bunch of these to your party essentials! You might even make one to match your kitchen colors and leave it out on the counter all the time. I could also see this project in a bathroom as a catch all for jewelry and more. So many possibilities! So, pick up some supplies and get started!
