Eye Spy Trinket Tray with EasyCast Resin
Hi Resin Crafters, it’s Natalie from Doodlecraft with my favorite resin craft to date! This Eye Spy Trinket Tray with EasyCast Resin is such an epic piece. This trinket filled eye spy tray is the perfect craft for making a conversation piece and game for the kids. It’s not just for the kids…it’s fun for everyone to see what’s embedded in the resin. With a glossy and smooth surface, it’s perfect for serving snacks or filling with books on the coffee table.
This is an especially fun tray filled with all the Clue game weapons, keys, some plastic animals, bottlecaps, charms, steampunk pieces, nails, buttons, things pulled from the junk drawer, a glass bottle with cork lid, and even a dice! The dice was the highest piece that required the most resin. Keep this in mind when picking your pieces, I used 32 ounces of resin.
Supplies Needed for Eye Spy Tray:
- EasyCast Resin
- Bag of Trinkets, Miniatures, Game Pieces and Memorabilia
- Hot Glue/Gun
- Mixing Cups, Stirring Sticks, Disposable Gloves
Begin by hot gluing the trinkets to the bottom of the tray. The hot glue will not show once the resin has been poured in…so no need to be too cautious.
Continue filling the tray until full of things to spy.
Next mix 8 ounces of EasyCast Resin. The resin needs to be added gradually or it will crack…so do layers of 8 ounces at a time, as pictured below. Mix the resin according to the package directions.
Then pour all the resin in the base of the tray. Next tilt the tray around to smooth the resin out into one thin layer.
Then be sure the tray is sitting on a level surface while drying.
After twenty minutes, use a heat gun to pop any bubbles that have formed. Then let the eye spy tray dry overnight.
Repeat mixing the resin and pouring into the tray until each of the trinkets is covered by resin.
That’s it!
