Instructions:
If you have not used the FastCast Urethane Casting Resin before, you are in for a treat. This fast setting resin product only takes 10 minutes to set up so you can go on with your craft quickly. We are showing you how to work with this product below and a few things to watch out for when you do.
Start by spraying your molds with the mold release and conditioner. Then allow those to dry completely. Once dry, you can start measuring and mixing equal parts of the fast cast in a mixing cup. Be sure to mix quickly as you don’t have much working time with this product. You will want to follow all measuring and mixing instructions included in your package. Then pour into the holes of your conditioned mold.
The product actually produces its own heat and will start to turn white right before your eyes in just minutes.
You want the entire thing to be white and the piece to be completely cool before you try and remove from the mold. Again, this should only take 10 to 15 minutes total.
You will want to leave plenty of room in your mold when pouring as the product does expand slightly.
Prepare your marbling paints while your pieces cure and cool. I used marbling paint but you can also add a marbling medium to regular craft paint if you would like. I also used two colors but you can use as many or as few as you would like.
Pour alternating colors of the marbling paint into a measuring cup.
Then add your mold pieces to corks to lift them up off of your work surface. You will also want to protect your work surface well as this project gets a bit messy.
Then pour on your paint randomly. You can pick the pieces up and tilt them if a portion is not covered. Allow to dry overnight.
Then use jewelry glue to attach backs to both the earring pieces as well as the necklace. Allow this to dry completely before wearing.
Then just add your new Easter egg necklace and earrings to your jewelry box to wear this spring.
Note that the surface of the fast cast pieces is not perfect. They do have some bubbles and bumps. They are, however, extremely lightweight and perfect for jewelry crafts.
Give FastCast a try for a few projects and see what you think! I love it for the ability to make fast crafts with resin and mold things in just minutes.
Add some marbled jewelry to your wardrobe with this easy craft project that anyone can make.
